Vice President and Head of Innovations
Juha-Matti “Juhis” Raunio is the Vice President and Head of Innovations at TBWA\Helsinki. He is responsible for the company’s innovation department and Screen, the film department.
For Juhis, the most important aspects of marketing include linking new media and phenomena to brand and product innovations. According to him, brand behavior is the new black: a company can talk about being a forerunner or working for a better customer experience, but promises can only be fulfilled through real actions.
As his favourite projects Juhis names pet store Musti & Mirri’s Biscuit smartband, the world’s first customer loyalty program for dogs, the fullybrand-funded prime-time TV show “Brändärit” (Branders), which aired on a Finnish national TV channel MTV3 in 2014 as well as the AI coffee mug “Paulig mug” designed for Finnish coffee brand Paulig. These projects are all internationally recognized examples of brand behaviour and of brave brands, who dare to do more than just talk.
In addition to his day job, Juhis keeps busy by running his start-up company Glöet. In his side job as a sparkling wine merchant, he has found an excellent channel for practicing what he preaches – creating a brave and innovative brand from scratch.
